When your iron (not a Teflon-coated) accumulates shreds on its ironing surface, wipe it with a dry wire sponge and then with a clean flannel. Before applying softener, dissolve it in water; never attempt to apply it directly on your clothes.
- The same applies to washing machines not fitted with a softener dispenser. Your bikinis and bathing suits will last much more if you use a few drops of softener in the last rinsing. Do not twist them; just let them dry in shadow.
- To bleach white clothes made of chlorine-resistant fabrics like t-shirts, napkins and bath towels, wash them normally and then let them soak in a water and chlorine solution for one or two hours and rinse them well.

How to preserve your knitwear |
Never use hot or lukewarm water. This makes the knit to shrink and become stiff. Therefore, use always cold water and neutral soap. Don't use a washing or drying machine. Always wash your knitwear by hand because this will prevent them from becoming stretched and deformed.
- The use of softener can cause pellets. Therefore, avoid using it. The best way to dry a piece of garment is on wire in a horizontal position, preferably bending it over the middle, without the use of clamps. If it is a colored piece, dry it in shadow to prevent fading.
- In case of black, navy blue, red or dark colored garments, avoid ironing them directly. Cover the piece with a thin cotton fabric and you will maintain its original shine. Never hang a piece of knitwear, otherwise it could become distorted.

How to store your clothes |
Any white garment that is going to remain stored for a long period should be wrapped either in paper or in a blue fabric. This will prevent them from becoming yellowish with the time.
- Moth can easily attack leather or wool garments. You can avoid them by putting inside the closet a paint-soaked paper, e.g., newspaper. You can also spread in the closet drawers and shelves black pepper grains or naphthalene pellets.
- To avoid mold smell, fill a thin stocking with cedar sawdust and hang it in your closet. Now, if your closet is wet, fill some glasses with chalk or limestone and distribute them uncovered in your closet.
